On meeting in out first session you may feel anxious, and unsure what to expect - this is understandable.  I will introduce you to the Counselling Room and ensure you are as comfortable as possible.

You will have already been sent a copy of the Mistral Client/Therapist Agreement to read so I will spend a short time to summarize this and answer any questions you may have. I will ask you what you would like to achieve through Counselling. You can share with me as much or as little as feels right for you. I will not judge or criticise you, and you are free to leave at any time during the session. There are paper and pens to draw with if you initially can't find the words to express your feelings.

I will notify you around 5 minutes before the end of your hour as this will allow for a safe and appropriate ending to our first session. There is no pressure, to arrange a further appointment, however this will help strengthen your commitment towards your therapeutic aims and I recommend at least 6 sessions overall, to allow time to build a working therapeutic relationship. Counselling is a process and change can happen over a period of time and it is important that you are in a comfortable and safe space when in therapy.
